Once Upon a Pony . . .Children's Birthday Parties at Norwegian Wood Farm Let us host the special child in your life, along with friends and family. Birthday parties are scheduled in 2-hour blocks. We meet in the lounge of the "Red Barn" where we start off with a chat about safety and decorum when working with ponies. We then have a group grooming lesson . .and the kids (as well as parents) have a chance to get hands-on! We discuss the diffferent grooming tools and equipment, and cover general horse care topics as we work together to get the pony ready for riding. The Birthday Child is taught how to lead the pony to the ring (with assistance) and She/He gets the first ride. (There are ringside picnic tables where the other party goers can relax and watch one another.) Each child gets a ride that includes balancing exercises (no hands! eyes closed! butterfly wings, etc) . . and for those who are inclined, a few minutes of trot as well. The Birthday Child gets a second ride after everyone has had a turn, and to ride "back to the barn" is optional. We then put the pony away and have some time left for snacks, farm games, etc. We've had nothing but rave reviews about our parties!! Please email for references if you'd like. Cost is $20 per rider (non-riding friends and siblings, no charge.) $100 minimum. We have an indoor barn and covered riding ring, so we can party no matter the weather.
